How much working RAM do I need to run AWARD CD-ROMs?

Depending on your operating systems, the amount of working RAM you need to run the entire AWARD Reading program is as follows:
PCs: Windows XP—512 MB; Vista—1 GB
Macintosh: Leopard (10.5)—1 GB

How many computers do I need in a classroom?

You can use AWARD with one computer for Shared Reading, and work individually with children from the class. However, AWARD is more effective if you have three to four computers for using every day in the classroom, or a whiteboard to share the CD-ROM stories and extension activities.

Can the CD-ROMs be networked?

AWARD CD-ROMs can be installed and used across a network. Networking is easy and we give step-by-step instructions on our CD-ROM, together with a help desk on the website. The menus build up at each new CD installation. If further information is needed, email sales@awardinteractive.com for forwarding to our technology support team. We will reply within 48 hours (except for weekends or holiday periods).

Does AWARD have a support system for technology problems?

How much memory does AWARD Reading take?

The entire program of 23 CD-ROMs uses only 15GB of your computer's memory.

Is the technology really easy to use?

Yes it is. Insert the CD-Rom into the CD drive, click on the CD icon and choose your platform (Mac or PC). Then begin to work through the many sample texts and activities. Minimum requirements are:

Does the network cost cover all the school?

The network cost is based on the number of computers used.

Is there anyone I can talk to who currently uses AWARD?

How does AWARD Assessment work?

AWARD Assessment is designed to collate student results and progress and therefore must be installed on the school's central computer (server). CDs are installed to build up all assessment levels. (The Assessment cannot be run off the CD.) A shortcut (alias) needs to be put onto every computer on the network that needs to access the software. Teachers set up their own user account to create classes and can add and delete students and print out results and progress. An Administrator gets full (password protected) access to all data. Our Assessment product is not designed to forward the data collected at each school into a centralized computer for the whole district.
