Lesson Plan for Watching the Storm

The basic pattern for planning the week’s literacy program is:
  • Sharing a genre text (a play, a poem, a chant, a song)
  • Sharing a text using the CD-ROM, or text (modeling)
  • Teaching an essential skill (phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension)
  • Independent/Small Group activities (apply and practice)
  • Celebrate literacy learning
